Bringing Major Film Releases to Retail

Through VR Graphics, I freelanced with Big Picture Design across entertainment campaigns for Columbia TriStar and Universal Studios.

My work included video and DVD packaging, labels, advertising, catalogues, price lists, posters and retail point-of-sale for major retailers including Woolworths, Big W and Kmart.

Working within a specialised three-designer team, I contributed to the delivery of up to 30 covers each month across fast-moving film-release schedules.

The Challenge

Adapt globally recognised film artwork across numerous packaging, promotional and retail formats while maintaining strict studio guidelines, retailer specifications and technical production requirements.

Each release needed to remain faithful to its official campaign while being visually engaging, commercially effective and delivered within fixed monthly release schedules.

My Role

Freelance graphic designer working through VR Graphics in collaboration with Big Picture Design. I developed layouts, adapted supplied key art and prepared accurate production-ready artwork across packaging, publications, advertising and large-format retail applications.

What I Delivered

Video and DVD covers, cassette and disc labels, key-art adaptations, title treatments, retail catalogues, product price lists, advertisements, posters, freestanding character cut-outs, theatre displays and in-store point-of-sale materials.

Collaboration

I worked as part of a specialised three-designer team, responding to creative briefs, supplied studio assets and detailed production specifications.

The work involved internal creative reviews, stakeholder feedback and retailer requirements, with careful attention to brand accuracy, image manipulation, typography and technical artwork preparation.

The Outcome

A high volume of entertainment packaging and promotional material delivered consistently across major monthly film releases and national retail environments.

The experience strengthened my ability to balance creativity with commercial objectives, manage tight deadlines and maintain exceptional attention to detail across complex creative rollouts for globally recognised entertainment brands.
